Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains, in plain language, what information these websites collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What I collect, and why

If you join the mailing list. The subscription form asks for your first name and email address, and I only receive them if you type them in and submit the form yourself. You are then sent an email asking you to confirm — nothing further is sent to you unless you click that confirmation link. I use these details for one purpose only: to let you know when there is new content or a new product worth your attention. In practice that is a handful of emails a year at most.

If you submit something. Where a page invites you to send in an article, comment, product or other drumming material, anything you provide is used only to consider and, if suitable, publish that submission. If your material is published I will credit you as agreed. Your email address is not added to any mailing list as a result of submitting — that only happens if you sign up for it separately.

If you buy something. Purchases are handled by ClickBank, who act as the retailer for these products. They collect your payment and billing details on their own systems, under their own privacy policy. I never see or store your card number, and no financial information of any kind reaches me or is kept by me.

The ClickBank order form asks whether you are willing for your details to be used for marketing. Unless you opt out there, I add you to the same mailing list described above. In that case the details I hold are your email address and first name, and — only where you supplied them — your last name, town or city, state or province, and country. Nothing else from your order is stored. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to me.

Ordinary web server records. Like every website, the server keeps logs of requests: IP address, browser type, which page was requested and when. These are used to keep the sites running and secure, and are not used to identify individuals.

Cookies and content from other companies

These sites set no cookies of their own. Some pages, however, include material served by other companies, and that material can set cookies or record your IP address when the page loads:

  • YouTube (owned by Google) — embedded videos on some pages.
  • Google Fonts — the typefaces these pages are set in are loaded from Google’s servers.
  • ClickBank — order links and the trust badge shown on some pages.

Each of those companies handles that data under its own privacy policy, not mine.

Links to other websites

These sites link out to other people’s websites, products and resources. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, governed by their privacy policy rather than this one. A link is not an endorsement of how that site handles your information.

Who else sees your information

Your personal information is never sold, rented, or given to any other person or organisation. The mailing list runs on software I host on my own server rather than a third-party marketing platform, so your name and email address stay with me.

How long it is kept

Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them, whichever comes first. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your choices

Every email I send carries an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. You can also write to me at any time to ask what I hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted — just email jim@percussionclinic.com and I will action it. If you would rather take a complaint elsewhere, you can contact the data protection authority where you live.

Security

Subscriber information is held on a password-protected system and I take reasonable steps to keep it safe. No system connected to the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, so I do not claim otherwise.

Children

These sites are aimed at drummers, percussionists and music educators generally, and are not directed at young children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy
